Everett Duncan

HARRISBURG - Everett Clinton Duncan, 92, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at his residence in Harrisburg.

Everett was born Aug. 11, 1924, to Peter Andrew and Carrie Elizabeth (Gibbs) Duncan. He married Kay Tarlton on April 18, 1953, and she preceded him in death on July 16, 1986. He then married Emma Schrock in May of 1990, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2007.

He was a member of Spring Valley Social Brethren Church and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Denis Duncan and wife Lisa of Jasper, Arkansas, and Skip Duncan and wife Dena of Paducah; daughter, Cindy Butler and husband Rick of Eddyville; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalee Davis of Shawneetown and Alma Young and husband Bob of Eldorado; brother, Alva Lee Duncan and wife Annie of Anna; and daughter-in-law, Edna Duncan of Golconda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; son, Butch Duncan; three sisters, Delphine Cravens, Emogene Stricklin and Evadine Duncan; two brothers, Noble Duncan and Billy Duncan; and two siblings at birth.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, in Spring Valley Social Brethren Church with Bro. Travis Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
