Johnny Gogue

<span>GALATIA - Johnny L. Gogue, 61, went to be with Jesus and family at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.</span>

<span>Johnny was born Sept. 12, 1955, in Harrisburg to John anf Donna Gogue. He grew up in Harco and attended Galatia schools.</span>

<span>He attended different churches through the years, including Harco Baptist, Bethel Church and First Baptist at Galatia, where he was a current member.</span>

<span>Johnny accepted Jesus on New Year's Eve at Harco Baptist with the Rev. Leonard Whitlock preaching. He was strong in his faith and very active in the community.</span>

<span>He was on the fire department for 21 years and was a member of Galatia Masonic Lodge. He was Past Master Mason and held active positions in the lodge.</span>

<span>Johnny loved attending ball games, especially Cardinal and Cubs and the Wichita basketball games.</span>

<span>He married Betty (Abbott) Steiner on Aug. 15, 1987.</span>

<span>Johnny retired from Russell Oil Company (ROC) after 36 years.</span>

<span>Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Brooke (Billy) Carlton, Stephen (Nicole) Steiner and Julie Steiner (Eric Duncan); grandchildren, Hannah Carlton, Emily Carlton, Alexis, Danielle, Stephanie, Karleigh, Kassidy Steiner, James and Jared Emberton; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Brown and Claire Lanham; sisters, Betty (Les) Smith and Wilma (Scot) Lambert; daughter-in-law, Becky Steiner; sister-in-law, Shirley (Virlile) Beers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.</span>

<span>He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Crystal Gogue; son, David Steiner; brother-in-law, Carl Abbott; and mother-in-law, Aline Abbott.</span>

<span>Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Gaylon Parks and the Rev. Derek Downs officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Cemetery in Harco. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. by Galatia Masonic Lodge. </span>
