Thomas Sumner

<span>CARRIER MILLS -- Thomas Jefferson "Jim" Sumner, 92, died at 6:26 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, in Memorial Hospital in Chester.</span>

<span>Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Ownly Williams officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and Army National Guard Ritual Team. There will be no visitation; all family and friends should go directly to the cemetery.</span>

<span>He was born April 12, 1924, in Harrisburg to the late Eli and Lillian (Payne) Sumner.</span>

<span>Mr. Sumner worked many jobs in his lifetime. He was an operating engineer and bus driver, just to name a couple. He enjoyed fishing and being around people.</span>

<span>He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and attended Harrisburg Apostolic Church for many years.</span>

<span>Survivors include his nephews, Lanny Sumner of Carrier Mills and Junior Sumner, Mike Sumner, Brian Sumner and Mark Sumner, all of Harrisburg; nieces, Wendy Neal and Paula Sumner, both of Harrisburg; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.</span>

<span>He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Sumner and Leon Sumner; sister, Madg Cole; and nephew, Kevin Sumner. </span>
