Elvis Dean Brockschmidt

Elvis Dean Brockschmidt, age 80, of Lake of Egypt transitioned from this life on Friday, June 10, 2016. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and holding the hands of his children. Elvis was born in Omaha, IL on April 10, 1936 to the late George Wesley and Lillie Ruth (Jones) Brockschmidt. On July 18, 1960 he married Dolores Jean (Moore) Brockschmidt, the woman who became his best friend, his confidant, his comforter, and wife.

Elvis was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He enjoyed hunting, gospel music, and fellowship. He was retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Marion, IL after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a truck driver, security officer, and Asst. Instructor of Truck Driving at SIC. He was a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy, IL.

Elvis is survived by his wife Dolores, a son, Mark Brockschmidt, a daughter, Cindy (Terry) Fry, a brother, Paul Brockschmidt, and a grandchild, Dakota Fry, and his napping buddy, Scrappy the Dachshund. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother George Brockschmidt, Jr.

Visitation for Elvis will be on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM. His funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 PM. Rev. David Dyer will officiate and burial will follow in the Palestine #2 Cemetery in Omaha, IL. Military rites will be accorded at the gravesite.
