Rosemary Nicholson, 86, Carrier Mills
Rosemary Nicholson, age 86, of Carrier Mills passed away 6:04 pm Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with her family surrounding her. She was born December 26, 1929 in Carrier Mills to the late Orlie and Tessa Gowins Roper. She was married on January 18, 1947 to Loyd Nicholson who preceded her in death July 5, 2002. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrier Mills.
Rosemary, with her husband Loyd, owned and operated Nicholson Carpet Service for many years which afforded them the opportunity to serve and be acquainted with many wonderful people. Mimi, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, as well as their friends, always had an open door to a home filled with love to share and a kitchen always stocked with their favorites, even fruit loops for the granddog Maizy. Her home was always the gathering place for family and what great memories were made during these times. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children: Tampra & Dale Williams, Pam & Greg Absher and Tim Nicholson.
Grandchldren: Melissa Williams, Geoff & Autumn Absher and Barrett & Sarah Absher and her Great-Grandchildren: BrookLyn Fugate, Kenslee Fugate, Hunter Fugate, Braxton Absher and Kenna Absher.
Sister: Sherry Turner and Sister-in-law: Lena Roper along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Husband, Brother: Bill Roper and Brother-in-law: Edward L. Turner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4 pm to 8pm at the First United Methodist Church 109 E. Washington Street in Carrier Mills. Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the church with the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
In honor of the family wishes, please omit flowers with memorials to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
