</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harrisburg Animal Control Officer Mike Sullivan confiscated a baby deer and a baby raccoon from a house at 209 E. Sloan St. early this morning.

Sullivan had received a tip the resident there, Anna N. Royse, had the raccoon and received another tip someone had spied the fawn looking out of a window of the house. Sullivan said the raccoon was in a cage and the deer was running loose around the house.

Sullivan took the animals at 1 a.m. today and passed on the information to Illinois State Conservation Officer John Williamson. Royse also asked Sullivan take two puppies that were in the house. He is taking the dogs to Saline County Animal Control and the wildlife is going to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Carterville.

Williamson said he plans to interview Royse.

"During the spring we get a lot of this stuff, people picking up baby animals. We try to educate them as much as anything," Williamson said.
