Longtime parade volunteer Jack Wise is this year's Holiday Lights Parade Marshal.
Wise will ride with Santa on the Harrisburg Fire Department's float during the 6 p.m. Dec. 8 parade before visiting with crowds at the Town and Country Lions Club on South Main Street.
"Jack has worked the parade since the beginning," Fire Chief Bill Summers said.
Wise, a member of the Lions Club, worked alongside other Lions members and the firefighters getting ready for parade night.
There will be a change this year. Historically the judging stand was at Juanita's Cleaners. Now the cleaners has closed it has no power and so the judging stand will be at Child Of Mine on South Main Street.
Lions will be sponsoring the house lighting contest on South Main Street and the post-parade party for kids to meet Santa at the Lion's Club.
Lions judges for the parade are Liza Dunn and Charlotte Taborn. Firefighters have not selected their judges, yet.
Summers said several marching bands have agreed to participate in the parade and float applications are arriving steadily.
"They keep coming in every day," Summers said.
Some of the most recent are Jim Hayes Inc. and Stonefort General Baptist Church. While organizers appreciate an application that may be picked up from firefighters or Lions, those who do not submit one can still participate as long as they are in the parade line on Church Street between the fire station and East Side School by 6 p.m.
Organizers ask no one throw candy, but walkers may hand out candy. The only other rule is there is to be only one Santa and he will be riding on the fire department's float.
"We look for it to be just as big or bigger this year as it was last year. We urge everybody to get involved, put a light on something, get in the parade and get in the Christmas spirit," Summers said.
