The trial of Tim Monroe, which has been delayed and rescheduled several times recently, is proceeding today at the Saline County Courthouse.

Monroe, 38, Ridgway, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church. The former Galatia High School athletic director and teacher was arrested April 10, 2008 at the school.

A jury of 12 and two alternates were seated by 4 p.m. About 40 people were examined for jury duty by Judge Ronald Eckiss, State's Attorney Mike Henshaw and defense attorney Paul Christenson.

The jury will begin hearing evidence 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Prospective jurors were quizzed about their knowledge of the case, whether they have any opinions about the case and whether they know anyone who may be a witness or participant.
