The Harrisburg School Board met last night for their regular November meeting. Reports were made by principals of each school in the Unit No. 3 school district, the annual audit was approved by the board and the resolution estimating tax levy amounts for the 2011 tax year was approved by the board.
West Side Primary School Principal Scott Dewar presented his monthly report, which commended all those involved in organizing “story character day,” an event which promoted reading.
East Side Intermediate Principal Bryce Jerrell told the board about his students' participation in Red Ribbon Week, which is designed to keep kids off drugs.
Harrisburg Middle School Principal John Crabb reported that his “Rachel's Challenge” event went well, and is continuing to build awareness at the school following the program. He also commended Dr. Karen McKlusky on her “wonderful” job directing students in the fall play.
The report from Harrisburg High School's Principal Karen Crank reported some minor electrical issues in the building. She also mentioned the high school staff is currently working with 22 seniors who are at risk of not earning enough credits to graduate in the spring.
