Jury finds Bowlby guilty on 19 counts of child sex abuse

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- A jury found former Eldorado resident Brian K. Bowlby, 37, guilty on 18 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse Thursday evening following a two-day trial. He was found not-guilty of one count of predatory criminal sexual assault.

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- The jury trial of a former Eldorado resident, Brian K. Bowlby, 37, is under way in Saline County. Bowlby is charged with 19 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, stemming from incidents that took place between 2001 and 2003.

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- Charles Rayburn Ryan, 41, of Harrisburg, made his first appearance in court before Judge Walden Morris Wednesday morning. Ryan has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection with the Dec. 23 stabbing death of his stepfather, Carl L. Crouch, 59, of Harrisburg.

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- Chief Judge Mark Clarke is pondering whether to allow other crimes to be used as evidence by the state against Raymond Moss in the case involving an incident that occurred in Sept. 2010. Moss is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault, two counts of domestic battery and two counts of unlawful restraint.

James Burns' murder charges will not be dismissed due to “speedy trial” violations

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- At the motion hearing held Friday afternoon in the case of James Burns, who is on trial for murder in connection with the 2004 death of Thomas Condon, the defendant filed a pro se motion to dismiss all charges on the basis of “speedy trial” violations. Chief Judge Mark Clarke, however, denied Burns' motion.

Harrisburg sheriff facing lawsuit

HARRISBURG-- A lawsuit has been filed in Federal Court by Ronald E. Williams claiming he was a victim of racial discrimination while working as a security guard at the Saline County Sheriff's Department.

Fonseca sentenced to six years in aggravated DUI case

COUNTY COURTHOUSE-- It was an emotional scene at the sentencing of Arnulfo “Arnold” Fonseca Thursday afternoon at the Saline County Courthouse. Fonseca, who was convicted of aggravated DUI stemming from an incident that occurred in April 2008, was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with one year of supervised release and a $1,000 fine. The judgment was handed down by Judge Walden Morris.
