"We're excited about the opportunity," said Harrisburg Middle School Principal John Crabb.

The event, "Rachel's Challenge," was founded by the family of Rachel Scott, the first student killed at Columbine High School. The program is based on her life and the diaries she left behind.
According to Crabb, the primary message of the presentation is that one act of kindness can start a chain reaction. He expects the hour-long assembly will leave a lasting impression on students and members of the community.
"It gives the community a chance to get behind our students," said Crabb.
He thinks kids are being forced to grow up faster than in the past and struggling with serious issues at an earlier age.
"I see things happening in the school I don't like," said Crabb. "Maybe if we can get to their hearts they will grow up to be better, more productive citizens."
The community event will be held Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the middle school. Crabb is hoping for a good turnout.
"I would love to see a packed house," said Crabb.
