Crews of city workers in Eldorado have been working to demolish old buildings in town that are an eyesore to the community, and Tuesday two more structures were torn down on State Street.

Ordinance officer Billy Bradley said beautifying Eldorado has been on the agenda of the mayor and City Council for a long time, and the city’s crews have been tearing down old structures for more than 14 years.

Tuesday’s demolitions mark the 479th and 480th buildings they have torn down over the past 14 years or so, according to Bradley.

The crews have demolished about 20 buildings so far this year.

“These were a couple of eyesores we’ve been trying to get down for awhile,” said Bradley.

The demolitions were part of a bigger plan to beautify Eldorado over time, which is an ongoing concern for city leaders.
