Assistant coach reduction conflicts with union agreement
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harrisburg school board decided against an earlier discussed 25-percent across-the-board cut for assistant coaches during Wednesday night's special meeting.
The board decided to reopen the contract with the Harrisburg Education Association. Superintendent Dennis Smith said earlier "straw polls" regarding assistant coaches does not comply with the collective bargaining agreement with the teachers' union.
The board took no action on two expulsion hearings and tabled action on issuing tax anticipation warrants.
