The Carrier Mills Village Board added two new members at the meeting on Tuesday.

Tracy Felty and David Kyle were elected unopposed at the April 5 municipal elections. Felty is a newcomer to the board; Kyle is beginning a new term.
Since only two people ran for the three vacant seats on the board, a vacancy had to be filled. Mayor Louis Shaw appointed Jennifer O'Neal to the board seat, according to an e-mail message from Shaw. All members voted yes.

Shaw appointed committees after the new board was seated and O'Neal was appointed. The chairman include Greg Prince at police; Kyle at street and alley; O'Neal at fire, water and sewer; Bill Jensik at land and buildings; Jim Swan at ordinance; and Felty at finance.

Felty will hit the ground running at the finance post. Shaw and Felty will start preparing the annual budget soon, Shaw said.

The old board rejected the junior firefighter program proposal before the close of old business. It will be considered again by the new board after an opportunity to examine the issue, Shaw said in the e-mail message.

Jensik, Swan, Derek Field and Shaw voted against the program; Kyle, Prince and Geoff Absher voted yes.

The three liquor licenses - American Legion, Casey's and the Sportsman's Club - were renewed. The Sportsman's Club license was downgraded to on-premises only, Shaw said.

The Board voted to give Fred Hutson until the June meeting to commence repairs again on the building at U.S. Route 45 and Main Street, according to Shaw. Swan, Prince, O'Neal and Shaw voted in favor; Felty voted no; Kyle and Jensik abstained.

Board members thanked Larry Reeg for hauling sand free-of-charge during the recent flooding and thanked everyone who helped during the crisis.

Shaw received confirmation of the village's official population from the Secretary of State's office: 1,653.
