ISP Saline County July enforcement results in several citations

SALINE COUNTY - Illinois State Police District 19 Commander Capt. Nathan Douglas announced Monday the results of an alcohol countermeasure enforcement, or ACE, patrol held in Saline Countyin July.

This ACE patrol allowed ISP to focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs.

There were seven registration offenses, three driver's license offenses, two alcohol or drug citations, an occupant restraint offense and an insurance offense. Four total arrests or citations were made and 42 written warnings were given by ISP troopers. There were no DUI citations issued.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, according to ISP.

There is one alcohol-related traffic fatality every 53 minutes in the United States. The ACE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous DUI offenders from the road. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
