Babaloo is coming to Chester library

Join the Chester Public Library online for a fun-filled music program at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17. Babaloo is singing, stomping, silliness and lots of laughing. Thank you to Judge Bill and Evelyn Schuwerk for sponsoring this event. To participate, register at www.chesterpubliclibrarycom/events. If you have not received the Zoom link via email by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, call the library at (618) 826-3711. Cameras and microphones will be off during the program.

Sign children up now for St. John VBS

St. John Lutheran Church in Chester welcomes all children age 3 through completion of grade 6 to this year's Virtual vacation Bible school. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the "Splash Canyon" VBS has been changed to offer free student packets and Facebook videos. Packets will be distributed from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, from the side parking lot of the Church office. They include Bible stories, supplies for snack activities, supplies for craft activities, song lyrics and game instructions. Instructions will be included to view activity demonstrations and songs on Facebook. Call the church office at (618) 826-3545 to register children by June 23 so the correct number of age appropriate packets can be assembled. All children are welcome.

Liberty Bell event canceled this Fourth

The Liberty Bell of the West Patriotic Celebration has always celebrated July Fourth near the Kaskaskia Bell Shrine and Immaculate Conception Church at Kaskaskia. No celebration will be held in 2020. The plans are to hold the 51st Celebration in 2021, same place as before. Co-chairmen of the Liberty Bell of the West Patriotic Celebration are Nate Brown, Karen Stallman and Emily Lyons.
