Lady Cats end home season with a decisive win over Carbondale

MARION - Lady Wildcats senior Jordan Turner added to her high school memory bank Thursday as Marion chalked one in the win column at home for senior night, beating Carbondale 50-43.

After an even first period, the Lady Cats outscored Carbondale by 10 in the second period.

Marion continued its assault after the break, adding another four points to the lead in the third.

The Lady Terriers threatened in the final period, outscoring Marion 16-9, but the effort wasn't enough.

"This was a really nice win tonight," said Marion head coach Mike Manfredo. "It's a really special senior night being able to send Jordan off with a win."

Manfredo also noted that the win locked the Lady Wildcats a third place conference finish.

"The only negative out of tonight," said Manfredo, "is we have to play them again on Monday in the regional. We're going to enjoy this tonight and get back to work the next two days."

Marion freshman Jerzy Bittle led all scorers with 24. Turner added six, nailing a 3-pointer in the first and going 3-4 from the charity stripe in the fourth.
