POSTPONED: Major WEEOC event set for next month at fairgrounds

The Perry County office of the Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Center is planning a major event March 20 at the Expo Center at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.

Details are still being worked out, but Ashley Greer, community service coordinator for the Du Quoin WEEOC office, says her intent is have representation from every service agency imaginable, so the appeal of the event will be as broad as possible.

Greer said there will be fresh food available for a food fair, for people who qualify.

She is also negotiating with agencies who handle housing, heating, health checks, the U.S. Census, the DMV, Marshall Browning Hospital and many more - at least 50 vendors altogether.

Greer said they'll need at least 50 volunteers that day, as well.

Watch the Du Quoin Call for more details as they become available.
