Dennis Loucks of Pinckneyville

Dennis R. Loucks, 68, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Dennis worked at General Cable for 26 years and retired from Walmart. He attended Concord Baptist Church in Rice, Illinois. He was a United States Army veteran.

He was born Aug. 15, 1951 at Du Quoin, the son of James O. and Idas Mae (Overton) Loucks.

Dennis married Gail M. (Wilson) Taylor on Aug. 25, 2007 at Du Quoin, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville; three children, Angela (Van) Meyers of Du Quoin, Kevin Loucks of Hoyleton and Kimberly (Brandon) Phillips of Herrin; one brother, Lester (Debbie) Loucks of Du Quoin; four sisters, Donna Howerton of Du Quoin, Delores "Dodie" Goodwin of Du Quoin, Linda (Marlin) Bird of Pinckneyville, and Leslie (Rocky) Anders of Du Quoin; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. Loucks and Idas Mae Horton; and one brother, James Loucks.

Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Gary Pate officiating.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Military rites will be held at 4 p.m., conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Burial will be at a later date.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the Concord Baptist Church, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
