Accelerated Reader program takes off at Carrier Mills-Stonefort grade school
CARRIER MILLS - Students at Carrier Mills-Stonefort Grade School are enjoying an Accelerated Reader reboot.
Students read books within their own reading levels and take tests to earn points.
Students in grades 2-6 are given yearlong point goals to reach. Each week, students are awarded AR dog tags in recognition of their earned points. The students receive a necklace to collect their point tags.

In seventh and eighth grades, students are recognized based upon the number of words read. The top three students in seventh grade are Shawn Carter (951,984 words); Cadence Boaz (604,436 words); and Abbie Pickering (369,230 words).
The top three students in eighth grade are Natalie Sandlin (577,054 words); Kaylee Smith (380,406 words); and Sarah Smith (291,504 words).
