Part of Route 51 near Tamaroa shut down through weekend

A section of Route 51 just south of Tamaroa will be closed Dec. 6 to Dec. 9 so crews can replace a drainage structure, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

On Tuesday, IDOT reported that a section of Route 51 between Illinois 154 and Kimzey Road will be closed at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. The road is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9.

Drivers are asked to find an alternate route. Message boards and signs will be in place to remind drivers of the detour.
