PCHS soccer team earns win over Greenville

PINCKNEYVILLE - The Pinckneyville Community High School soccer team moved to 5-6-1 on the fall season after a second consecutive win Monday, a 6-1 decision over Greenville.

The victory followed a 3-1 decision over Olney last Saturday, which concluded a busy week. The Panthers previously tied with Murphysboro, beat Salem, and lost to Carterville-Herrin before beating Olney. Games this week come against Alton Marquette, Belleville Althoff, and then Anna-Jonesboro at home this Saturday.

Against Greenville, the Panthers opened up a 4-0 lead at halftime, with goals by Cameron Hawk, Barrett Denny, and two by Luke Chapman. Chapman added his third for a hat trick, and Hawk his second on the day with a penalty kick for the final. Panthers goalie Grant Tanner had several outstanding saves against the Comets, whose goalie also made a couple of point-blank stops that could've made a bigger difference for the Panthers.
