Daniel Robert Drone of Ridgway

Daniel Robert Drone, age 71, and a lifelong Ridgway resident, passed on this life peacefully on Nov. 21, 2018 in the Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dan, as most knew him, was born in Ridgway on Feb. 2, 1947 to the late Eugene and Helen (Coleman) Drone. He graduated from Ridgway High School and attended college.

Dan worked at B & W Boilermakers for many years as an inspector and ended his working life at the Ridgway Popcorn Plant.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway.

Dan was a private person who was well-read, but really enjoyed talking with his family and friends. He was very kind and polite and will be missed.

Dan is survived by four brothers, Max (Bernadine) Drone of McLeansboro, Russell (Donna) Drone of Carrier Mills, Fred (Barbara) Drone of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Gary Drone of Walla Walla, Washington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Drone.

Dan's funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019 at St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway. Fr. Steven Beatty will celebrate Mass and Dan will be laid to rest with military rites in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway, following the service.
