Doris (Andrews) Cooper, formerly of Marion

MARION - Doris June (Andrews) Cooper, 89, formerly of Marion, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Brian Fuller officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home.

June was born June 7, 1930 in Ware, Illinois to James Evan and Mona (Dean) Andrews. She went to school in Anna.

She married Arthur Cooper on Jan. 9, 1950 and had three children. They made their home in Marion and were blessed with 60 years of happiness until his death Oct. 19, 2010.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie (Glenn) Berry of Charlotte, North Carolina and Stacy (Dan) Lintzenich of Nashville, TN; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jerry Dean (Mary) Cooper of Pflugerville, Texas; grandchildren, Danielle Lintzenich (Quentin) Phillips and their children, Jaxon and Austin Grey of Nashville and Erin Lintzenich of Nashville; step-grandchildren, Melody (Doug) Wood and Melissa (Tom) Hicks, both of Pflugerville, Texas and William Shaw of Oxnard, California; and several nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son, Arthur Ray Cooper; stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Shaw; sisters Jeannie Copher, Janet Kurzeja and Lucretia Kelley; and brothers Avery D. Andrews, Ellis Andrews and Evan Andrews.

June was a Christian and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Marion, where she worked in the kitchen and served on the Prayer Chain. She worked for many restaurants in the area and as a bookkeeper for Byassee Standard Oil until her retirement. She enjoyed caring for her granddaughters, Dani and Erin, in their younger years and being the best Mimi ever.
