Norman Lee Tilley of Du Quoin

DU QUOIN - Norman Lee Tilley, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:35 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

Norman was a broker and owner of Gold Team Incorporated Realtors of Du Quoin. He was also retired from the Zeigler Coal Company.

Norman was a member of the UMWA, and a member and past president of the Egyptian Board of Realtors.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Norman was born July 2, 1944, in Du Quoin, the son of John Morris and Reathel (Morrisey) Tilley.

He married Janice E. Swisher on April 13, 1972, at the Christian Church in Mulkeytown, and she survives.

Norman is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; two sons, Steven Gray of Du Quoin and John (Samantha) Tilley of Joliet; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Desi (Tim), Kody, Chloe, Hunter, Emily and Sallee; two brothers, Clyde Tilley of St. Anne and George (Lori) Tilley of Du Quoin; two sisters, Joyce Haggard of Du Quoin and Jackie Carter of Mulkeytown; and several nieces and nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin, with Brother Bill Hamburger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research, or to the Mulkeytown Grade School. They will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
