Beaucoup Creek DAR chapter bestows Flag Awards

Beaucoup Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently presented Flag Award certificates to those who properly use, display and have a patriotic presentation of the American flag,

Receiving the certificates were Bigham Farms, Chris and Amy Martin, Phil and Daphney Schimanski, Mike and Marie Schimanski and Perry County 4-H groups, for placing flags at local cemeteries.

More than 100 years ago this committee was established to promote a deep patriotic sense of respect for our flag. In 1909, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution gave this committee the responsibility to keep the flag flying and to protect it continuously under all conditions, as well as to educate citizens regarding its correct usage.

Our objective is to recognize individuals and groups with certificates, to show appreciation for their respectful usage of the flag of the United States of America.
