Chester Rotary Club Chester Animal Hospital about to break ground on larger facility

Chester veterinarian Dr. Jodi Bainter recently spoke to members of the Chester Rotary. Owner of the Chester Animal Hospital, Dr. Bainter treats small and large animals. She employs two vet technicians, two assistants and a receptionist.

A second veterinarian, Dr. Allen Hodapp, began work at the Chester location in January. A third veterinarian is expected to join the group in June. Bainter is also hosting three job shadowing students.

She stated that she fully believes in job shadowing, in the hope of encouraging young people to enter the field of veterinary medicine.

The current animal hospital is at 1616 State St. in Chester, which is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

However, Bainter announced that she has bought about three acres on Taggart Lane in Chester and hopes to break ground on a new facility this month.

"We're very excited about this," Bainter said. "We'll have lots more room to provide more services," she said.

Dr. Jodi (Schroeder) Bainter grew up in Steeleville. She and her husband have one 2-year-old daughter, who, according to Bainter, loves animals and thoroughly enjoys being at the animal hospital.

Bainter was accompanied at the Rotary meeting by one of her assistants, Dawn Moore. Together, they provided a variety of interesting and humorous animal stories, enjoyed by all in attendance.
