Chester chosen for 2019 Tour of Honor

The city of Chester has been chosen as one of seven stops in Illinois on the 2019 Tour of Honor, a grand tour sponsored by the American Motorcycle Association that raises money for veterans and first responder charities.

Between April 1 and Oct. 31, more than 1,000 motorcycle riders may visit Chester Square Gazebo Park and the veterans memorial. Riders will come individually or in small groups, as they tour the state to look at all seven selected sites - all of which are related to veterans, first responders and 9/11.

The other sites in Illinois will not be made public until April 1.

According to Chester Recreation Director Patti Carter, the city will erect a welcome banner at the memorial and businesses are encouraged to offer discounts or specials to the riders.
