Authorities still searching for missing Dowell man

PINCKNEYVILLE - The Perry County Sheriff's Office issued a statement over the weekend that an investigation into the disappearance of Billie D. Stroud of Dowell is continuing.

Authorities say Stroud was last seen getting into a green Suburban with a friend around 12:39 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Elkville. He had been at his former girlfriend's residence. It is believed that Stroud was to be dropped off at his home, but never made it there.

After several days of investigation, police have determined the vehicle Stroud was last seen in was apparently in a slow chase with the Perry County Sherriff's Office.

The driver and passenger fled on foot and were later identified as Stroud and Stanley Rector of Dowell. Police said attempts have been made to contact Rector regarding Stroud's location with no success. Stroud is 5-foot, 11 with a slim build and weighs 163 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black coat and jeans. He has several tattoos on the upper and lower chest area, including a joker on his right rib cage.

Authorities ask that anyone with information as to Stroud's whereabouts to please call the Perry County Sheriff's Office at 618-357-5212.
