Du Quoin Elementary honors vets at breakfast
DU QUOIN - Du Quoin Elementary School hosted its annual Breakfast with a Veteran program this past Friday. All K-4 students at the school participated.
In addition to eating with those veterans who attended, the children made special Veterans Day cards for them and sang patriotic songs to them with the assistance of their homeroom teachers. Moreover, each of the tables where the veterans sat was decorated with small American flags.
Principal Diana Rea said the breakfast is an annual event and is a good opportunity for young students to learn more about veterans by conversing with them.
