SALINE COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY 'I'm humbled and grateful for the support'

SALINE COUNTY - Attorney Molly Wilson Kasiar won the Saline County State's Attorney race Tuesday night, defeating incumbent State's Attorney Jayson Clark.

Kasiar said she appreciated those who voted for her.

"I'm humbled and grateful for the support I received in this election," Wilson Kasiar said. "Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to my family, friends and supporters who made this possible."

Wilson Kasiar, the Republican candidate, won with 3,662 votes compared to Clark's 3,186 with all votes counted. Wilson Kasiar and her husband, Jason Kasiar, visited a postelection victory celebration hosted by Saline County Sheriff-elect J. "Whipper" Johnson, where the two candidates and their supporters congratulated them.

"This is huge, and not just for the state's attorney's office and not just for the sheriff's office," Johnson said. "We worked and campaigned as a team, holding meetings to discuss public safety with Saline County residents. I this definitely is a great benefit for Saline County."

Clark, the Democratic candidate, offered well-wishes. "I wish the Saline County state's attorney's office the very best in the future," Clark said.

Wilson Kasiar said she plans to improve Saline County.

"Working together, we will build a better, brighter and safer Saline County. Tonight was the first step in making that happen," she said.
