Round 2: Home vs. Maroa-Forsyth in Round 2

The Chester High School Yellowjackets come home for the second round of the 2018 Class 2A IHSA State Football Playoffs. hosting an undefeated Maroa-Forsyth team at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at Chester High School's W.O. Smith Field.

The Trojans advanced after beating No. 15 Jacksonville Routt, 55-13, last Saturday at home. Jacksonville ended their 2018 season with a 5-5 record.

Maroa-Forsyth has an enrollment of 391 students. The school is located in Maroa, Illinois and the Trojans play in the Sangamon Conference in Class 2A. They carry a national ranking of 886 and a state of Illinois ranking of 32.

The Trojans have made a total of 24 playoff appearances with 15 consecutive. The most recent appearance was last year in 2017. Maroa-Forsyth has won two championships and seven runner-up finishes throughout their playoff history.

This year Maroa-Forsyth, coached by Josh Jostes, has a roster of 76 athletes including 16 seniors, 19 juniors, 21 sophomores and 15 freshmen that might be dressing for the CHS vs. CHS game. The Trojans come into the game with an undefeated 10-0 record.

During the regular season the Trojans went undefeated beating their opponents by a cumulative score of 469-81.

The Yellowjackets are healthy coming into Round 2 of the Class 2A Playoffs and Coach Billy Belton is proud of his team and confident in their potential.

"Any time you can play in the second week of the playoffs, it is a great accomplishment," Belton said, "To have that game at your home field is even better. It will be an awesome atmosphere. We are happy to be at home."

Kickoff is 1 p.m. at W.O. Smith Field and the CHS Quarterback Club will be on hand to serve a delicious meal to early arrivals. Tickets for the game are $5.00 and can be purchased at the gates. The CHS Football Team will have a limited supply of "Official" 2018 Playoff shirts available for sale at the Quarterback Club Food Stand.

The Chester Music Patrons will also have a wide variety of food items, candy, drinks, and hot popcorn available on both sides of the football field in the usual concession stands.
