Carrier Mills man killed in UTV wreck; 2 seriously injured

STONEFORT - A Carrier Mills man died in a utility vehicle wreck early Saturday morning that left two others with major injuries.

According to a news release from the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Joshua L. Reed, 36, died from injuries after the 2016 Honda UTV he was driving eastbound on Battleford Road about two miles southeast of Stonefort ran off the road and overturned. Saline County Central Dispatch received a call about the wreck at 1:08 a.m. Saturday.

Reed, along with two passengers, Courtney L. Joyner, 33, of Carrier Mills and Michael D. Perry, 33, of Carrier Mills, were ejected from the UTV. A third passenger, Joshua M. Lewis, 44, of Eldorado, was wearing a seat belt and received only minor injuries.

Saline County Coroner Jerry Doug Watson pronounced Reed dead at the scene.

Joyner and Perry were flown from the scene by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with major injuries. As of Monday afternoon they remained in Deaconess.

Lewis was treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and the coroner's office, according to the news release.

The Carrier Mills Police Department, Saline County EMS, Deaconess EMS and Stonefort Fire Department assisted with the call.
