Pocket Full of Love 5K well received

DU QUOIN - The Elkville Christian Church hosted its Pocket Full of Love 5K run and walk Sunday afternoon at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.

The race and silent auction was a fundraiser for Families in Need, an outreach organization of the church.

According to the church website, Families in Need started out with a mission to help a church family member and has turned into a mission of support for all of the church family and all surrounding local communities.

The organization was set up to benefit those who are suffering a sudden emergency or sudden and tragic loss.

Paul Cochran of Vergennes was at the race Sunday to cheer on his wife, Frances, who was running.

"This is the first time she has done this," he said. "She's been training hard. I'm really proud of her."
