Perryville man arrested in Chester

A Perryville, Mo., man wanted in Perry County, Mo., was arrested by police in Chester Aug. 12.

Jordan L. Mahathath, 25, of Perryville, Mo. was wanted by Perry County, Missouri authorities on charges stemming from an Aug. 9 incident in which Mahathath successfully fled from authorities, avoiding arrest, according to police.

Chester Police received a tip Aug. 12 that Mahathath had been spotted at the Walmart parking lot in Chester. Responding officers found Mahathath in the passenger seat of a silver Dodge as it pulled away from a parking stall. Officers maneuvered their patrol cars into a position boxing the vehicle in.

Mahathath was then observed attempting to take control of the vehicle from the driver in an attempt to escape, according to police. Officers approached the vehicle, removed Mahathath and placed him under arrest.

Matathath was both verbally and physically noncompliant, police said, Once placed in a patrol car, police said Mahathath continued his physical noncompliance, causing damage to the vehicle.

Police also found a small amount of methamphetamine and a number of hypodermic syringes. Criminal charges are being pursued against Mahathath for possession of the suspected methamphetamine and the damage he caused to police vehicle during the arrest, according to Chester police.

The car's driver, Danielle Niccum, 27, of Perryville, Mo. was also arrested and charged with Aiding and abetting a fugitive and unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe.
