Michael Hillegas DAR honors senior from Eldorado High School

HARRISBURG - Eldorado High School Class of 2018 graduate Emilie Farmer of Eldorado received the DAR Good Citizenship Award from the Michael Hillegas DAR chapter at the organization's May meeting.

The DAR Good Citizenship Award was presented by member Kathy Morris during the meeting to Emilie Farmer of Eldorado at the May 19, 2018 meeting at First Baptist Church in Harrisburg.

Others who received the award but were not present were Makayla Rose Springer from Gallatin County, Danielle Reynolds from Galatia, Lauren Hancock from Carrier Mills and Chloe Thomas, the overall winner from Harrisburg.

Farmer read the essay she wrote for the contest to all that attended the meeting.

Member Sharon Pyle explained that the middle school American History essay contest and the middle school Good Citizenship awards had not been presented to the students yet because the school participating did not have their honors ceremonies yet.

The students who received the American History essay contest awards were Madison McClusky, eighth grade, from Harrisburg Middle School, and Cydney Mayfield, eighth grade, from Carrier Mills. Auggie Comer of Carrier Mills won the American history essay contest.

The Good Citizenship Award winner was Kaylen Moss, eighth grade, from Harrisburg Middle School.

Jan Hall, registrar, presented certificates to members for their years of service to DAR.

Those recognized were June VanGampler, 20 years; Karen Vinyard, 25 years; Robylee Foster, (not present),

40 years; and Sharon Tanner, 50 years of service.

Those present were Regent Sharon Tanner, Lisa Thomas, Candy Evans, Joy Richey, Mary Rivera, June VanGampler, Oma Farmer, Karen Vinyard, Kathy Morris, Sarah Drone, Delores Payne, Myra Mauterer, Sharon Pyle, Christy Short, Shelia Albright and guests Emilie Farmer and her mother, Sarah Farmer.
