CREAL SPRINGS - Sherrie Price was busy preparing pasta in the kitchen of Adams Grade School Saturday for the dozens of hungry diners who turned out for spaghetti and more from 4-7 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Creal Springs Wonder Water Reunion. The event comes up later this year.

While Price was cooking the spaghetti, volunteers Amy Ribect and Melinda Mitchell were busy just a few feet away filling the plates for the guests at the serving line in the school cafeteria. Mitchell said that she also helps out at the Wonder Water Reunion itself, which is held every summer in nearby Creal Springs.

Jessie Westfall was a little further down the serving line preparing takeout orders. The Carrier Mills resident said that she grew up in the area and likes to return to help when she can.

"Even though I don't live here anymore, I always enjoy coming back to my old hometown and volunteer whenever I can," she said.

Creal Springs Mayor Micah Morrow was on hand to help, as well, and said that the community is great about supporting each other when the need is there.

"This is our main fundraiser that we hold each year to help fund the town's Wonder Water Reunion and we'll also be having a fish fry next month for the same purpose," he said.

If you missed Saturday's spaghetti fundraiser and like fried fish, then mark your calendar to attend that event, which will be held Saturday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Creal Springs VFW.

Mayor Morrow said, "The fish fry will feature fish, hush puppies, french fries, potato salad, coleslaw, a drink and desert."

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for children and children age 3 and under eat free.
