Golden-Palmer wins close Gallatin County clerk primary

GALLATIN COUNTY - Gallatin County's deputy county clerk Jill Golden-Palmer won a close Democratic Party contest for county clerk Tuesday night.

Golden-Palmer won with an unofficial vote total of 541, compared with the 489 votes received by her challenger, Shawneetown Mayor David Barker.

In addition, two Democratic county board candidates advanced to the November general election on Tuesday.

Lisa Coonse picked up 730 votes and Randy Drone got 597. A third candidate, Paul Wayne Massey, had 185 votes and does not advance to November.
