HARRISBURG - Harrisburg police arrested one man during an investigation following a shooting incident Monday night, but it is not clear if the man was involved in the shooting.

According to a news release from Harrisburg Police Chief David Morris, Gerald R. Williams, 31, of Harrisburg was charged of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Police initially responded at 7:15 p.m. to a report of shots fired into an occupied home on the 200 block of West South Street in Harrisburg, according to Morris.

After arriving, officers spoke to the reporting party and found damage caused by unknown people firing shots into the residence there. They sealed off the area and searched for suspects but did not find any, according to Morris. Illinois State Police's crime scene unit also arrived and assisted with the crime scene investigation.
