Two arrested in prescription investigation

A Chicago man and a Carbondale woman have been arrested as part of a multi-jurisdictional investigation into forged prescriptions.

According to a news release from the Chester Police Department, 24-year-old Tyler Latray Tatum, of Chicago, and 23-year-old Alexis T. Cage, of Carbondale, were arrested Oct. 4 by CPD officers on an allegation that both used forged prescriptions in an attempt to obtain Schedule 5 medications from area pharmacies.

The news release stated the CPD, along with area law enforcement agencies, is working with pharmacies that may have been affected. Tatum has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, while Cage has been charged with conspiracy to obtain a controlled substance.

Both are Class 4 felonies and the charges stem from an attempt made at an area pharmacy, which was not named by the CPD. The release noted the case is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

The Herald Tribune will have more details as they become available.
