Saline 4-H Home and Family Show results announced

Saline County 4-H members exhibited some outstanding projects at the 4-H Home and Family Show on Thursday, July 20, at First Church of God in Harrisburg.

Exhibitors excelled with their foods, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) clothing, shopping in style, interior design, child development, candy making and food decorating projects, which they presented to the judges.

And all of the projects were on display for the public to enjoy.

State fair ribbons for food projects were awarded to Wyatt Arnold (4-H cooking 101), Hannah Haney (4-H cooking 201), Bridget Payne (4-H cooking 301), David Heath (4-H cooking 401), Madison Sisney (food science 1), Haylee Brown (food preservation) and Kaylee Payne (food decorating - intermediate).

State fair alternate ribbons were awarded to Shelby Pribble (4-H cooking 101), Jessica Tuttle (4-H cooking 201), Haylee Brown (4-H cooking 401), Lillian Siler (food preservation) and Cassi Cotter (food decorating - intermediate). Adrienne Poore received a county champion ribbon for her candy making with molds project.

In the child care project area, state fair ribbons went to Chloe Hopkins (child development 3) and Kailyn Williams (child development 1). Madison Sisney earned a state fair alternate ribbon for child development 1.

In the design and clothing decisions project areas, Bridget Payne received a state fair ribbon for design decisions - advanced, and Callie Oxford earned a state fair ribbon for shopping in style - intermediate.

State fair ribbon winners for clothing and textiles projects were Bridget Payne (STEAM clothing 3), Kaylee Payne (STEAM clothing 2) and Rachel Lands (STEAM clothing 1). State fair alternate ribbons for sewing projects went to Courtney Boulds (STEAM clothing 3), Whitney Payne (STEAM clothing 2) and Kailyn Williams (STEAM clothing 1).

Fashion revue, which followed the regular judging, is a 4-H project where members write their own narratives that are read while they model sewn or purchased garments. Bridget Payne, Callie Oxford and Kailyn Williams all earned a state fair ribbon for fashion revue. Rachel Lands received a state fair alternate ribbon for this project area.

Sewing top of show was awarded to Bridget Payne, and sewing best construction was awarded to Kaylee Payne.

The 4-H staff at University of Illinois Extension and Saline County 4-H would like to thank all of those who volunteered their time to serve as judges or assistant judges for this show.

We also want to thank First Church of God in Harrisburg for providing the facility and for the church's continued support of Saline County 4-H.
