St. Paul UCC youth take mission trip

St. Paul United Church of Christ recently took 15 youth and four adults on a mission trip to Florida.

The group departed southern Illinois July 8, beginning their week with a fun day on Sunday. The group attended church and headed off to Manatee Beach on the Gulf before going back to Orlando to get ready to start their work for Give Kids the World.

The Give Kids the World Village, a wish-filling, carefree retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their very families, is a 70-acre village open 365 days a year and offering more than 1,400 individual and group volunteer opportunities each week.

Things the travelers got to do included operating the carousel, driving the train, serving meals, playing games, scooping ice cream, helping families for the Disney character pictures and most importantly working in the castle.
