District 300 to host golf scramble

The Du Quoin District 300 Educational Foundation will play host to its 11th-annual Jim Booker Memorial Golf Scramble fundraiser Friday, Aug. 4 at the Red Hawk Country Club.

During the 2016 event, nearly $10,000 was raised for the Foundation's scholarship and classroom grant programs. Prizes this year for the four-person scramble event include gift certificates for the "closest to pin" winners for men and women and "longest drive for men and women. Hole-in-one opportunities include chances to drive a new vehicle free for two years courtesy of Vogler Ford.

Last year 17 teams participated in the event with 40 regional and local businesses providing their support.

The scramble will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. event start. In addition, lunch will be provided for each golfer with refreshments provided by Pepsi MidAmerica throughout the day. In addition several donated gifts and prizes will be given to each participant.
