Bailey receives hospital scholarship

Du Quoin High School graduate Grace Bailey has received Marshall Browning Hospital's 2017 health care scholarship.

Bailey, the daughter of Michael and Denice Bailey of Du Quoin, will receive $1,000 each year for four years to continue her education. Bailey will be attending Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

"Grace is an outstanding student and has a bright future ahead her," said Don Hoffman, chairman of the Marshall Browning Hospital Board Scholarship Committee.

Marshall Browning Hospital now has awarded $1,000 per year for up to four years to nine students pursuing careers in health care. The scholarship committee recently hosted a dinner in honor of Bailey, as well as Brittany Clark, 2016 recipient; Jerry Kuhnert, 2015 recipient; Cody Bailey, 2014 recipient; and Molly Clark, 2013 recipient.

The scholarship committee comprises hospital board members Richard Haines, Kathy West, Don Hoffman and David Searby, as well as hospital CEO Dan Eaves.

"Supporting the youth of our community is something we are committed to doing at Marshall Browning Hospital," Eaves said. "We are very impressed with Grace's high school accomplishments and are pleased to offer assistance as she pursues a career in the health care field."
