Two seriously injured in Walsh Road accident

Two people were seriously injured in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Walsh Road north of Shawneetown Trail on Monday.

According to law enforcement at the scene, one person was airlifted, another was medically transported and a third occupant of the vehicle refused treatment at the scene.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the vehicle was traveling south on Walsh Road when it crossed the northbound lane of traffic and overturned in the ditch along the northbound lane, coming to rest on its top.

The vehicle then ignited and was fully involved when first responders arrived. Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff told reporters all three occupants were already out of the vehicle upon law enforcement arrival.

The accident was reported at 12:20 p.m., with Chester and Ellis Grove firefighters responding to the scene. This story will be updated as more details are released.
