HARRISBURG -- A woman clerking at the Sloan Street Market in Harrisburg Monday afternoon told an armed robber she would not open the cash register for him -- even when he pulled a gun, the store owner says.

At about 1:45 p.m. Monday, a man entered the store on the 600 block of West Sloan Street.

"I had only been gone about five minutes," owner Brett Allen said. "Guy came in and asked Mildred to open the register. She said no.

He pulled a gun. She still said no. She told Darlene to call 911, and he left."

The suspect was described as a black male with dreadlocks, dressed in all black clothing except for white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Harrisburg Police Department at (618) 252-8661. Callers may remain anonymous.
