MARION - The Marion location of Gander Mountain will remain open, despite the company's decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Friday.
Gander Mountain is the nation's largest retail network of outdoor specialty items for hunters, fishermen and campers, including firearms and ammunition. It also features outdoor apparel and footwear.
A statement provided by Jess Meyers, Director of Media and Public Relations said, "While we did recently announce the closure of 32 stores nationwide, we can report that the Marion store is open for business and expects to conduct normal operations during our restructuring.
"We're grateful for the continued support of our employees, our customers and our trade partners as we move forward with restructuring," Meyers said.
The Gander Mountain locations in Champaign, Springfield, and Algonquin, are the only ones in the state that have been announced as closing.
While the Marion location is currently remaining open, Meyers said that he did not know if more stores would be added to the current list of locations that were being closed.
