Fatal Hardin County shooting reported

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">CAVE-IN-ROCK &ndash; An early morning shooting left one person dead and a suspect in custody, according to a news release from Hardin County State's Attorney Daniel K. Cockrum.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">According to the news release, at about 4 a.m.the Hardin County Sheriff's Department received a call from Cave-In-Rock, with the caller reporting a death as the apparent result of a firearm discharge in the home.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Officers responded to the home and confirmed an individual was deceased.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Hardin County Coroner Jessica Cullum was then notified, according to the news release, as was Illinois State Police for assistance with the investigation.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The suspect is in custody.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Neither the victim nor the suspect is being named at this time, due to both pending notification of family members and the continuing nature of the investigation, according to the news release.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The investigation will continue to be conducted by Illinois State Police, Hardin County Sheriff's Department and the Hardin County coroner, the release said.

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">More information will follow pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the release.
