HARRISBURG – Temperatures in the 20s caused some entries to drop out, but Christmas magic remained in the air Thursday at Harrisburg's annual Lights Parade.
Harrisburg's police and fire departments led the parade, which has become a December fixture in Saline County. No marching bands participated this year. Extreme cold can damage musical instruments.
The parade, which began at East Side Intermediate School, wound its way up to Poplar Street and west before hitting its old familiar route, south down Main Street.
Homes and businesses along the route also were lit with decorations, part of a Town and Country Lions Club contest to encourage city participation.
