Lavada June Pickering

HARRISBURG -- Lavada June Pickering, 78, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born March 3, 1938, in East St. Louis, the daughter of Aaron and Leveda Smith Woodiel. She was married to Joe Pickering, who survives.

Mrs. Pickering was a member of Union Chapel Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joe; son, Jon and Christy Shackleford of Marion, Kentucky; stepson, Ronald and Juli Pickering of New Iberia, Louisiana; stepdaughter, Melinda Pickering of Harrisburg; sister, Brenda and Ferrell Davis of Galatia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Curtis Shackleford and Jeffry Shackleford; brother, Lyndell Woodiel; and granddaughter, Jonna Shackleford.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in Tate's Chapel Cemetery, north of Galatia. Those wishing to attend should go directly to the cemetery.
